Photographic experiment part 1

I have been interested in doing children photos for a long time, babies in particular. Well I had what I would consider my fourth official child shoot. and first time with a 9 month old. It was adventurous to say the very least. I wouldn't say it was frustrating but its definitely a new experience for me and I guess I over estimated my ability to make kids smile and cooperate because there was little to no cooperation to be had.

I think I am going to need some more practice in order to obtain my goal.

Wedding?

Wedding photography isnt exactly my forte. But when one of my best friends asked me to photograph her sisters wedding, I reluctantly agreed. Reluctantly because I wasnt entirely sure I'd do the whole thing justice. Im still not sure I did it justice, but the bride and groom are happy and thats what counts.

The Wedding Dress

The Ear Rings

The Flower Girl

The bride with attitude :)

so that was my wedding experience. I loved the location, lots of sand. I ran around with out my shoes on all day :)

Random Color Experiments

I favor black and white, but when  I am in a color photo mood its either a lot of color, or nothing at all!

My Mentor slash kinda crazy uncle that isn't really my uncle says that I am an "emotional artist" meaning that if I'm not in the mood to do what I am doing, then it either turns out badly, or even if it turns out well, I tend to not like it. this is probably the most accurate description of me anyone has ever given.- well at least as far as photography goes.

When experimenting with color, I have found that I enjoy the backwards way of going about it. Im never really satisfied with a conventional feeding of the need.

I fancy myself a paint slinger, not a painter...but definitely a slinger. So I thought...why not mix the two? Yes of course, this has been done before by a thousand people..but this one is mine. and I really like it.

This is probably one of my year to date prized photos. Its simple, there is nothing out of the ordinary about this image but somehow or another it  still sets it self apart from some of my other work in my mind and as you can see it is colorful.

Random "snap shot" taken at an event in Charlotte NC. I fell in love with the blue lights.

this is one of my friends children and from the moment he grabbed the yellow block...I knew I was going to make something cool out of it. Its a bit dark, and not exactly your hallmark children photograph but he is not your hallmark kid either. Hes wonky, he does his own thing.  this is an old one, he is two and some months now...very different looking, still wonky!

my first complaint about this photo would normally be the lattice blaring threw in the background. But I think this image needed something that screamed "this wasn't taken in a studio" because aside from the lattice..it looks very studio-esk.

thats all for now....I will share some more later.

Live Events- Bands

Live events, stage work and band shots are probably what I am most well known for locally. I used to frequent the local club called Ground Zero and shoot at every opportunity. I haven't been able to do this as much as I would have liked to over the past year, but I hope to get back to it soon.

We will start off with bands, my next post will probably be stage acts.

one of my all time favorite guitarist captures

the spirit of rock haha

It doesn't get much cooler than this...I wish I would have gotten a better capture, but I still like this shot.

Any truly underground music nerd is going to know who this is-  I didn't at the time and I got my head chewed off for it. lol

Same for this Lovely Lady.

I really enjoy a good close up.

By far one of my best on stage shots of a keyboard player ever. Color, motion and lighting were all working with me on this one.

that concludes my band shots for this post, Im sure I will have some more in future posts.

Some Nature Colors

I shoot nature occasionally, its not my favorite thing to do. But..I do adore fall. So I felt a little inspired to share some nature work.

Random Country Sky.

This one is a few years old. I took this right after I started experimenting with using white balance in the camera instead of after-image processing. I also used a UV filter.

this little guy was on my porch one day, years ago. Im sure hes been reborn like 17 times since then. I found it ...creepy, like spiders can surely be. But also very captivating.

thats all for now...I will post more later. Its going to be a busy week!

My first post!

Hello blogger world.

My name is Jessica...but Ive gone by Danni for so long that, its just stuck.
I am a 20somthing semi-amature-professional-butnotreally photographer. --its hard to classify myself.
I have worked with some pro's but I have also worked with some newbies. I see myself as more in the middle.

I thought I would start this off by posting some of my favorite black and white photos that I've done. Black and white is my favorite style of photography.

This is Gen, and she was a true pleasure to work with. Friendly, professional and a sexy brain.
I think of this shot as my second ever "Classic" something I will always remember. My first gem was a shot of some dominatrix boots...I may post that one later.

This is Marty, he is also a photographer. As you can see, hes quite handsome. So we decided to get together for some shots. I loved the outcome. I did end up using his rig for this...I felt a little out of my league at the time. But looking back, it was a great learning experience with a really cool friend.

these toes belong to Lady Vicious and Katie Lynn. They are probably two of my most resilient models. This was a really fun shoot. It was mostly shot by my partner in crime, Uncle Dave. But I snuck a few shots in of my own.

This is Billy Liner of Liner Designs, doing a photo set up in Charlotte. I enjoyed this trip very much. I have always enjoyed watching Billy work, he is a master of light. This photo shoot was no exception, the images turned out beautifully.  Behind the Scene (bts) is probably one of my favorite things to do.

I adore this photograph because in the two+ years I have known Katie Lynn, I hardly have any photos of her where she doesn't look angry, sexy, or evil. I like this one because it shows a smile...a spark. Something I think she should share more of.  Its beautiful.

I have more images  that I would love to share, but It will have to wait for another time. I am way past when I should have been in bed and believe it or not...I enjoy to sleep! Goodnight!
